Scarva Earthstone Crank (E/S 50)
Open textured coarsely grogged clay which still retains tremendous plasticity. Produced by sliphouse method. Uses carefully graded and selected new grog material, lime-free, which provides the keying purposes of firebrick, but limits the risk of contamination. An excellent fireclay with the qualities of crank - warp resistance, low shrinkage and excellent green and fired strength - but none of the disadvantages associated with lime bearing clays.
